Description Contents Teacher Resources

Our new foam protein kit introduces your students to enzymes. They will use the engaging foam model pieces and activities to identify the substances involved in enzymatic activity, explore how enzymatic reactions occur, demonstrate catabolism and anabolism, and much more.

  • Simulate enzymatic actions.
  • Explain enzymatic specificity.
  • Investigate 2 types of enzyme inhibitors used in regulating enzymatic activity.
  • Examine how an enzyme may affect activation energy.

Each 3-group set contains 30 foam pieces (6 gray enzymes, 3 red substrates, 3 tan incompatible substrates, 3 purple competitive inhibitors, 3 blue noncompetitive inhibitors, and 6 green pieces to show catabolism and 6 orange pieces to show anabolism) and 3 sheets of stickers.

Worth every penny! January 15, 2014

I have been teaching high school biology for the past 18 years and I have tried many different ways to help my students understand the relationship between enzyme structure and function.  When I saw these enzyme models at the 3d Molecular Designs booth at the NABT conference this year, I wanted to give them a try.

My students found the models to be very helpful in developing their understanding of enzyme function. The exclamations of "I get it!" when the noncompetitive inhibitor changed the shape of the active site preventing the substrate from binding were priceless. Thanks for another great product!
